BrickFest 2005 Washington DC
BrickFest is a national convention of LEGO fans. Hundreds of builders from across the country convene for 3 days in Washington DC for seminars, expos and demonstrations of LEGO in every form. This year marked the 6th anniversary of BrickFest and the 50th year of the LEGO System of Play. As a sign of its continued and increasing involvement with the LEGO community at large, the LEGO Group sent an extraordinary contingent of talent the likes never before seen in public. In attendance were the owner of the LEGO Group, the CEO, Master Model Designers, Set Designers, Concept and Marketing Reps, LEGO Mindstorms Developers, Community Relations Reps, Shop @ Home Reps and more! It was truly an impressive show of support. Even more amazing was how accessible every member of the LEGO team was. They all seemed so genuinely interested in our ideas and suggestions. It was all very cool,
Beyond the LEGO folk, BrickFest drew an amazing talent pool from across America and even around the world. I was humbled by such great builders as Steve DeCraemer, Felix Geco, Joe Meno, Kevin Clague, Nathan Sawaya and so many others. Everywhere you looked there was something to make your jaw drop. I think you'll agree, there's no way I'm missing BrickFest next year :)
